Kirk was a close ally of Donald Trump who called him a “martyr for truth and freedom” while Vice-President JD Vance said he was a “true friend” and a “great family man”.
An unsettling social media post from over ten years ago saw Charlie Kirk chillingly write about being “shot” as people online have rushed to say he predicted his own death.
The 31-year-old conservative activist was killed by a single shot on September 10, while he was speaking at a rally at Utah Valley University on Wednesday in what authorities are calling a political assassination.
Kirk was a close ally of Donald Trump who called him a “martyr for truth and freedom” while Vice-President JD Vance said he was a “true friend” and a “great family man”.
The dad, who is credited with playing an influential role in rallying young Republican voters, was holding a microphone and responding to questions at the rally when he was hit by a bullet reports the Mirror.
He reached up with his right hand as blood gushed from the left side of his neck while stunned spectators began screaming and rushing for cover.
It has since emerged that Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, had issued a post on X dating back to June 23, 2014, where he mentioned being shot.
The post read: “Did I just get shot by an AR-15? Feels like it.” The AR-15 sadly is often said to be the gun of choice used in mass shootings. The FBI has revealed that they believe the gunman used a Mauser .30-calibre, bolt-action rifle which was found in a towel in woodland nearby.
A spent cartridge was recovered from the chamber, and three other rounds were loaded in the magazine, according to information circulated among law enforcement. The weapon and ammunition were being analysed by law enforcement at a federal lab.
Followers of Kirk quickly pointed to his social post following his death with one person saying: “How did he know” while another wrote: “ Twitter done told the future”. Other comments included “this is beyond canny” and “bro predicted his own death”.
Kirk was hit as he spoke to a large crowd gathered in a courtyard at Utah Valley University in Orem.
The suspect arrested over the shooting of prominent right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk has been named as Tyler Robinson, 22.
Robinson was taken into custody two days after father-of-two Kirk, 31, a Donald Trump ally, was shot and killed at a Utah Valley University debate in what authorities described as a political assassination. Robinson’s own father, said to be a former law enforcement official, turned him in.
