French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife are in the middle of a defamation law suit.
Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron are to present photographic evidence to a US court to prove that she is a woman, as part of an ongoing defamation lawsuit. The French president’s lawyer said that he and his wife are to present evidence to support their lawsuit against American right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who promoted claims that Mrs Macron was born a biological man.
The pair are ready to prove ‘generically and specifically’ that the allegations were false, said Tom Clare, their lead counsel in the case, on the BBC’s Fame Under Fire podcast. No specifics have been confirmed on what exact evidence the Macrons are to submit.
The French politician and his wife have found the claims promoted by Owens ‘extremely upsetting’, according to Clare, who added: “It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself, to put this type of proof forward.”
He said that Brigitte was willing to “do what it takes to set the record straight”. The lead counsel also said that the lawsuit had become a distraction for the French president.
The pair launched their defamation law suit against Candace Owens in July, accusing her of making up far-fetched lies in order to humiliate Brigitte on a global level.
