The FBI has released photos of the person of interest believed to be involved in the murder of conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk, offering a six-figure reward to anyone with information that could lead to the identification or arrest of the gunman.
“We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. 1-800-CALL-FBI,” a post shared via X read on Thursday, September 11, urging witnesses to call the FBI or submit photos and video through an online form.
The two grainy photos show a person wearing a hat, sunglasses and a long-sleeve black shirt.
Two men were taken into custody after the shooting, but investigators later confirmed they were released after questioning. In another development, federal agents said they discovered a high-powered rifle in the woods.

Kirk, who cofounded conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA, was struck in the neck by a bullet around 20 minutes into his presentation on Wednesday, September 10. According to CNN, the fatal shot was taken from around 200 yards away. Authorities believe the shooter took the shot from a rooftop and quickly fled the scene.
The media personality was seated at his “Prove Me Wrong” table during a campus event at Utah Valley University, which marked the first stop of his American Comeback Tour, when the shots rang out.

Bill Mason, commissioner for the Utah Department of Public Safety, confirmed during a press conference that Kirk was taken by “private vehicle” to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was 31.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox called the fatal shooting a “political assassination” and said the shooter could face the death penalty.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Erika Kirk (née Frantzve), and their two children: a daughter, Sarah Rose, 3, and a son, 15 months, whose name has not been publicly shared.
“Every one of us at Turning Point USA is crushed and devastated by the hateful murder of our founder and guiding light, Charlie Kirk,” a new statement shared via X read. “All of us have lost a leader, a mentor and a friend. Above all, our hearts are with Erika and their two children. Charlie was the ideal husband and the perfect father. Above all else, we ask you to pray for the Kirks after the incomprehensible loss they have suffered.”
