A former Apple employee claims that there is just one reason for consumers to purchase a new iPhone model that came out on Friday, September 19. Apple introduced its new iPhone 17 lineup earlier this week, showcasing a variety of innovative features and devices.

This includes a completely redesigned Pro series that features a striking new camera and an aluminium unibody design. While many users might be attracted to the iPhone Air, which Apple has labelled as its ‘slimmest phone’ to date, there could be multiple reasons to steer clear of it, according to a social media reviewer.

Former Apple employee Tyler Morgan, who now shares tech tips on social media, informed his TikTok audience that there is “no reason” to think about buying the iPhone Air. He said: “I am one of many people that wonder what is the point of the iPhone Air?

“It’s literally just the 17 with one less camera, a Pro chip, because they have to have a reason to charge you $1,000.” He added: “Worse battery, but the same front camera, it’s the 17 with one camera, doesn’t even get USB3. Oh, and as an extra middle finger to you, worse wireless charging, only up to 20 watts, whereas the base model gets 25.”

In a claim, he said that the iPhone Air is meant solely for those who wish to flaunt their new device. He said: “I don’t care who you are, what you say, there is no excuse for you to get an iPhone Air over the regular one.”

He also recommended that anyone willing to spend £999 consider the iPhone 17 Pro Max instead. According to Apple’s own comparison website, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which costs £200 more than the iPhone Air, has a larger 6.9″ display and a notably bigger battery.

A statement on Apple’s website reads: “iPhone Air features an impossibly thin and light design that is more durable than any previous model, with innovative camera experiences and remarkable all‑day battery life.”

Apple says that while the iPhone Air provides 27 hours of video playback, the iPhone 17 Pro Max can offer up to 37 hours. Furthermore, the iPhone 17 Pro Max includes two additional cameras compared to the Air, featuring an Ultra Wide 48MP Fusion Telephoto camera, which promises enhanced photo quality.

For photography enthusiasts who require substantial storage, the iPhone 17 Pro Max provides up to 2TB of space, double the 1TB offered by the Air. However, the new aluminium design and the large camera of the iPhone 17 Pro have stirred debate among Apple fans.

On the other hand, the iPhone Air maintains a stylish and high-end appearance, which may attract many users. Apple has revealed that the complete new iPhone lineup will be available for sale starting Friday, September 19.
