Cops locked down the area after the incident was reported earlier this week.
A man has been charged with the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in a Scots town.
Cops received a report about the incident in woodland between Dunnikier Way and Hendry Road in Kircaldy, close to a high school, at around 2.30pm on Thursday, September, 11.
Officers announced this afternoon, Saturday, September 13, that the 54-year-old man had been arrested and issued an update shortly after 7pm confirming he has now been charged.
He is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday, September 15 and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
The walkway was cornered off by cops while forensics scoured the scene.
An image from the scene earlier in the week showed a police car with a police cordon erected and several officers examining the area, while another captures an officer ducking under police tape.
A Police Scotland spokepserson said: “The 34-year-old man, who was arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in Kirkcaldy, has been charged.
“Officers received a report that the sexual assault occurred in woodland between Dunnikier Way and Hendry Road around 2.30pm on Thursday, 11 September, 2025. “The man is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday, 15 September. “A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
