Nina Dobrev and Shaun White’s broken engagement wasn’t brought on by infidelity, a source exclusively tells Us Weekly.
“There was no cheating at all during the course of their five-and-a-half-year relationship,” an insider close to the former couple says.
The source adds that Dobrev, 36, and White, 39, were fully committed before their breakup.
“They were very loyal to each other,” the insider tells Us, noting, “Any online speculation that suggests otherwise is ridiculous.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Dobrev and White for comment.
Shortly after news broke on Thursday, September 11, that Dobrev and White had called off their engagement, the Vampire Diaries alum raised eyebrows with a resurfaced TikTok video.
Some fans speculated that the video, which was initially posted on September 5, hinted at issues between Dobrev and White.
In the clip, Dobrev lip-synced, “How do you sleep at night knowing people don’t like you? With no underwear, in case they want to kiss my ass.”
The cryptic social media post continued by seemingly referring to a relationship in trouble.
“What’s your advice for women trying to fix their man?” the audio continued. “Listen, Bob the Builder, he’s got 10 other women trying to fix him too, and you all look like a damn construction crew.”
Dobrev didn’t elaborate further, but had shared a series of Instagram photos from her summer adventures just one day prior, many of which included White.
The actress sparked dating speculation with White in February 2020 when fans noticed they posted similar photos from a trip to South Africa. Us broke the news that April that Dobrev and White were a couple.
Dobrev and the Olympic snowboarder went public with their relationship in May 2020. The following year, White exclusively told Us how the pair celebrated their first anniversary.
“I wanted to recreate our first date, but everything was closed,” he said in June 2021. “I managed to sweet talk the owner of the place to open up for us. It was actually pretty fun to have a place all to ourselves.”
Three years later, White proposed to Dobrev in October 2024. “Nina was totally surprised and they’re both wildly happy,” a source told Us at the time, noting the engagement took place in New York City.
Over the next 10-plus months, Dobrev and White documented their romance via social media, including their travels all over the world.
Days before they called it quits, Dobrev shared Instagram photos on September 5 of the duo in Greece. Earlier in the summer, they enjoyed time in Spain while celebrating Vampire Diaries’ Michael Trevino’s and Bregji Heinen’s wedding.
Prior to their breakup, Dobrev revealed that she and White were securely on the road to a wedding. “When you’re getting married and building a house in the same year,” she captioned a July TikTok standing in an unfinished property.
“How much do we have left?” Dobrev lip-synced in the clip. “40 bucks,” White cheekily mouthed back.
