Bryan Kelly has been described as a “wonderful, kind, funny and generous young man taken far too soon”.
A young Asda worker has died after collapsing at at work.
Tributes flooded in for “kind and generous” Bryan Kelly, 34, who is understood to have been suffering from headaches during his shift at the Asda Toryglen store on August 28.
He passed away in hospital the following day.
Thomas White, General Store manager of Asda Toryglen, paid tribute to ‘well-liked Bryan.
He added: “Everyone at the store was deeply saddened to learn that Bryan had passed away and the thoughts of everyone here go out to his family and friends.
“Bryan had been with us at the store for five years and was a well-liked and key part of the team here at Asda Toryglen, and he will be sorely missed.”
His devastated colleagues managed to club together over £900 for Bryan’s family. A fundraiser has since been launched in his memory and to pay homage to Bryan’s sense of “social justice”.
The JustGiving statement read: “In memory of Bryan we are fundraising for Social Bite’s Festival of Kindness Christmas campaign to provide Christmas dinner to people experiencing homelessness.
“Bryan was an avid supporter of social justice and ending homelessness was something he felt passionate about. He was particularly moved by individuals he met while travelling Asia and Australia who were experiencing homelessness.
“Bryan also loved Christmas. It was his favourite time of year. It is a fitting tribute to him to support this cause.
“Social Bite are a charity and social business providing homes, jobs, food, and support to empower people experiencing homelessness to transform their own lives.
“Social Bite believes everyone deserves a safe place to call home, that a job can be truly transformative for someone who has experienced homelessness, and that food is one of the most powerful tools to help signpost people to access support.
“Any donation to support this cause in Bryan’s memory would be greatly appreciated and will leave a lasting legacy of this wonderful, kind, funny and generous young man taken far too soon.”
Opportunity to donate was also held at Bryan’s funeral – which took place this week on Tuesday September 9 at St Mungo’s Chapel and Linn Crematorium.
The service reflected Bryan’s love for Oasis as songs including Half The World Away and Champagne Supernova were played, alongside his committal music of The Masterplan.
Bryan’s family thanked all of those who attended on his order of service, which was full of lovely photographs of him as a youngster and with his parents.
The family statement read: “The family would like to thank everyone for the kind thoughts and support you have shown by being here today.”
Scottish Ambulance Service were contacted for comment.
