Livingston-based Brewster Brothers, which recycles construction waste into high-quality aggregate products, extracts the valuable materials from construction, demolition and excavation waste via its state-of-the-art recycling plant, using a wet-processing system.
A family-run waste management company is celebrating a major milestone after diverting over two million tonnes of construction waste from landfill.
The recycled materials have been repurposed back into the construction industry, fuelling new building projects and saving 12,000 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere – the equivalent of approximately one million car journeys between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Livingston-based Brewster Brothers, which recycles construction waste into high-quality aggregate products, extracts the valuable materials from construction, demolition and excavation waste via its state-of-the-art recycling plant, using a wet-processing system.
The plant removes metal, plastic and organic matter and processes the rest of the waste by washing, screening and separating it using a range of technologies.

The end result is a high-quality recycled product which can be repurposed back into the construction industry where it is used in everything from new build homes to essential road infrastructure.
The recycled aggregates business was founded in 2017 in Livingston and has since expanded, opening another site in Cumbernauld last year. It now processes and recycles up to 2,000 tonnes of waste a day between the two sites.

Angela Constance, MSP for the Almond Valley constituency where Brewster Brothers Pumpherston site is located, visited the company to congratulate Scott and the team on their work.
